Footprints is a ministry of Church of Redemption Anglican Missions in Calgary, designed and aimed specifically for children. The name 'Footprints' found its name both in the inspirational poem "Footprints" and is based on the idea of encouraging our children to walk in God's footprints. Our ultimate goal is to provide children with a warm, nurturing and loving environment where each child develops towards their full emotional, physical and spiritual potential in Christ. Learning about Christ's life so that they may also walk in his ways, or in other words, make footprints with Christ.
Footprints Children's Ministry is an energetic weekly Sunday school program designed for children of all ages. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, interactive environment where children can come to learn about Jesus Christ, his church and learn about their relationship with Christ. Footprints runs all sorts of programs designed to capture children's attention, including: arts and crafts, baking, interactive biblical lessons, bible memory verses, prayer, morals, video's and games, to name a few. Children are encouraged to bring their bibles and tithe to class. The tithe received from each child goes into a fund for children's missions.
A volunteer at each class will be chosen to pray in order to encourage their prayer life at home. All children are encouraged to volunteer at least once. Each child is provided with a light snack at the beginning of each class, and are encouraged to participate in all activities. After including their memory verse for the next week and various interactive questions the parent can discuss at home as a family.
A child once dreamed he saw his life as a picture in the sky. Sometimes four footprints marked the path. He knew God walked close by. But other time, one set of footprints was all he could see. His eyes filled up with tears. He cried, "You walked away from me!" "My precious child," God said. "Look back, you thought you were alone. I love you. I would never leave you. You were not left on your own. That single set of prints was mine. Your feet weren't on the ground. When troubles came I carried you and held you safe and sound." ~Mary Stevenson~
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
