Proclaim, Demonstrate, Celebrate Christ!

When we think of summer time we think of harvest time. However, did you know that the work of harvesting will not begin until the summer ends? Look around you! Vast fields of human souls are ripening all around us and are ready for the reaping. The reapers will be paid good wages and will be gathering eternal souls into the granaries of heaven. What joys await the sower and the reaper, both together (John4:35-36).
All of us must quickly carry out the tasks assigned to us by the Lord, for there is little time left before the night falls and all work comes to an end. (John 9:4). You are part of the new testament church that our Lord has been and still is preparing for the end time work of the kingdom of God, you are soldiers of Christ in his true perspective, not just in name.
WE have on Lord who we honor in our church, as is the case in the Church of God. His name is Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God, our Redeemer, our Saviour. He is the way, the truth and the life. Without him no one can go to the father. He has told all of us who want to serve him, to follow him wherever he goes, to stand, wherever he stands, to refuse whatever he refuses, to agree with whatever he agrees with and he promises that his father will honor every one who will serve him (June 12:26). That is why we regard him as Lord above any other. You cannot say no to your Lord.
Our Lord Jesus is the head of the Church. We, his church, are his body. He has give us one specific assignment to do in the world and no Bishop, no board, no committee has the right to change that assignment. The work of the Bishop, boards ad committees is to find out that assignment, study it carefully and carry it out before he comes back again to take his church.
This is part of the reason you are reading this today, He knows you by your name. You are not here by accident. He made you and gave his life for you. Surrender to him implicitly by opening your heart to allow him to reign in all you do, think or say. If you are willing to do that, you have taken the most important and greatest step you will take in your life. Then you are fit to serve him. Let me repeat the passage from above, " did you know that the work of harvesting will not begin until the summer ends? Look around you! Vast fields of human souls are ripening all around us and are ready for the reaping. The reapers will be paid good wages and will be gathering eternal souls into the granaries of heaven. What joys await the sower and the reaper, both together (John4:35-36).
There are five lessons which stand out clearly from this passage of the scriptures for those wishing to serve him. Here are a few of them...
1. There is a vast amount of work to be done....... "vast fields of human souls are ripening all around us". Do you know what we are experiencing in this part of the world? Do you know what is happening in other parts of the world? There are places where young men begin their day with a needle and instant high, going from one high to the next. There are places in this world with no drinkable or portabl water, no amenities, no place to lie their head at night, no clue when the next time they will eat will be and no one seems to be concerned.
 2. That "vast" work is about human souls. It is for people like you and I that Christ died and continues to call people to repentance- not buildings, no legacies which fade with time, no money, power or fame... but for a single soul. The gospel brings light to the dark corners of the world in order that people may see it. It stops the supersticious killing of twins, and perverse nudity, an occurence in Africa that stopped because the light of the gospel. It gives hope to the hopeless. The places that the gospel does not have a stron hold are still groping in the darkness. There is "vast" work to be done. That vast work is about human souls and its about you and me.
We need to pay attention to what is around us and look up. Our time here is nearing an end and we will have to give an account for what we have done. Where will you be standing on the day of judgement?
